SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE:
The Applications Analyst/Developer offers a unique opportunity for candidates with a .NET developer background to work directly with Northwest Pipe’s business units and stakeholders. Through development support of NWP’s proprietary, in-house developed application suite the ideal candidate will be technically proficient in visual basic, C# and Microsoft’s technology stack. In this position you will be responsible for the full SDLC process for existing applications and new applications and solutions you deploy.
You will be a part of an IT Application team that delivers new business capabilities through project implementations, functional enhancements and direct end-user production support. Varying in size of complexity including civic/water engineering calculations, NWP’s proprietary applications support critical business needs such as sales information management, in-depth engineering design drawings, production tracking and cost estimation; their data sources range from ODBC-compliant control systems like SQL Server to Microsoft Access and Excel.

Identify and analyze user and system requirements, then translate these into scalable technical solutions.

Design, develop, enhance, test, deploy and support corporate software applications and business tools.

Capable of learning and resolving engineering calculations and complex mathematical equations.

Architect math-heavy, data-driven solutions for a wide array of business challenges.

Design and implement scalable databases.

Design, build, and modify custom Microsoft Technology stack applications to accommodate the needs of the supported facilities.

Interface with source control systems, e.g., TFS, including branching, merging, and/or continuous integration.

Troubleshoot issues with technologies at supported facilities.

Utilize advanced data analysis techniques to efficiently communicate data trends. This includes pivot tables and charts, dynamic named ranges, vlookup, sumproduct, etc.

Present data in executive formats including trending, graphing, PowerPoint, Pivot Tables and integrated custom reporting.

Produce presentations with graphs and tables to show trends and results.

JOB SCOPE:

This position encompasses all aspects of software development with a focus on the design, development, re-engineering, and support of applications developed using the Microsoft stack.

This position will involve frequent interactions with the business community and end-users via email, phone calls, and face-to-face meetings.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Technical proficiency with C#, Visual Basic, VB.Net, MVC, ASP.Net, IIS, TFS, JavaScript, JQuery, SQL Server, and T-SQL/SQL Stored Procedures.

Proven examples/experience developing and supporting client-server applications.

Ability to consume and capture business requirements.

Excellent written and oral communications skills.

Strong analytic, problem solving, and collaboration skills.

Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and PowerPoint.

Knowledge of Microsoft BI stack, SSIS and SSAS a plus.

Entity Framework or ORM experience is a plus

DevExpress and DevExpress report development a plus.

Experience in AGILE methodologies and proven ability to manage simultaneous projects/tasks using Scrum development.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
-
Bachelor’s Degree or a combination of college and relevant experience.

3+ years experience using Visual Basic and Microsoft .NET development.

2+ years experience in database design with SQL Server.
